This book has been a popular title in France for some time, and has now been released in English. I can see why it’s a hit! 20 pages of thick board book fun, with a great ending, make for a wonderful read.
I’m liking
The cartoon wolf gets dressed in lots of items of clothing. The anticipation builds towards the last page… which my toddler waits for eagerly… where the fully dressed wolf is coming to get you!
My son learnt the text quickly and delights in telling me what item of clothing the wolf is putting on next. We’ve not had this little book long, but it’s already been read many times.
The bold, bright and simple illustrations and simple text with surprise ending are just a great combination.
Things that made me go hmmmm
Initially it struck me that this wolf might be a little bit scary for some small people. The book is aimed at ages 0+. My toddler isn’t frightened by the big bad wolf but some sensitive little people might be. You can make it lots of fun as the anticipation builds towards the ending and any fears should be relieved.
The conclusion
I love this little book. It may well assist you if you have a little person who is reluctant to get dressed in the morning – you can talk through the steps that the wolf goes through and keep it light and fun.
Published by Gecko Press, I Am The Wolf… and Here I Come! retails for approximately $19.99.
