Pom is playing with his special friend, Pim. Pim gets misplaced, much to Pom’s dismay. Pom enlists the help of his dog, and they look everywhere for little Pim. This is a gorgeous story with lots of potential for many repeat-reads.
I’m liking
The simplicity of this book is perfect. The pictures really tell the story, the words are few but allow for a lot of expression when read aloud. Written by Lena Landstrom and illustrated by Olof Landstrom, you get the feeling those Landstroms are a magic team. There is just such a great balance between text and illustration, it hits the nail right on the head. The book rounds off nicely with the return of Pim to Pom, much to everyone’s relief.
The conclusion
I love the gentle humour found here, and my son really enjoys reading this book. It’s simple for little ones to pick up the text and read it along with your particular intonation, which makes a book very special I find. Pom, Pim and the dog are beautiful characters, I look forward to seeing more of the Landstroms’ work. This is another great release from Gecko Press, most suited to the 1-4 age bracket.
