“TRACY HOGG HAS GIVEN PARENTS A GREAT GIFT – the ability to develop early insight into their child’s temperament.”

When Tracy Hogg’s “Secrets of the Baby Whisperer was first published, it soared onto bestseller lists across the country. Parents everywhere became “whisperers” to their newborns, amazed that they could actually communicate with their baby within weeks of their child’s birth.

Tracy gave parents what for some amounted to a miracle: the ability to understand their baby’s every coo and cry so that they could tell immediately if the baby was hungry, tired, in real distress, or just in need of a little TLC. Tracy also dispelled the insidious myth that parents must go sleepless for the first year of a baby’s life-because a happy baby sleeps through the night. Now you too can benefit from Tracy’s more than twenty years’ experience. In this groundbreaking book, she shares simple, accessible programs in which you will learn:
– E.A.S.Y.-how to get baby to eat, play, and sleep on a schedule that will make every member of the household’s life easier and happier.
– S.L.O.W.-how to interpret what your baby is trying to tell you (so you don’t try to feed him when he really wants a nap).
– How to identify which type of baby yours is-Angel, Textbook, Touchy, Spirited, or Grumpy-and then learn the best way to interact with that type.
– Tracy’s Three Day Magic-how to change any and all bad habits (yours and the baby’s) in just three days.

At the heart of Tracy’s simple but profound message: treat the baby as you would like to be treated yourself. Reassuring, down-to-earth, and often flying in the face of conventional wisdom, “Secrets of the BabyWhisperer promises parents not only a healthier, happier baby but a more relaxed and happy household as well.

  1. Of all the books I read pre and post Baby #1, this book is the only one I kept by my side.Together my husband and I applied the E.A.S.Y routine system, and boy did it work wonders. Our daughter slept through the night at 4 weeks old, and has continued to do so.Her way of writing was easy to read, the book was short, and to the point.I read it whilst I was breastfeeding in those initial weeks and started applying her advice immediately. If you want your nights back to yourself, you will apply her “Dream Feed” principle, which we did by moving our daughters feeds back in 15 minute increments.Awesome book, awesome advice, helpful and not time consuming, and easy.

  2. This is a fabulous book & I can’t recommend it enough to first time Mums for comprehensive practical advice & tips.My husband & I had just emigrated to NZ when I was 4 months pregnant. I read this book 6 weeks prior to my son’s birth & with none of my own family around me for support, it became my bible in the first few weeks of his little life. The book covers everything! starting with her famous “E.A.S.Y.” acronym – Eating, Activity, Sleep, You time – and the “S.L.O.W.” acronym for how to determine why your baby is fussing/crying: “SLOW” – Stop, Listen, Observe, Whats up – with really practical sensible tips for taking into account Baby’s immediate environment, time of day and not forgetting your state of mind as well!Helps to provide some much needed structure & organisation, particularly in those first few weeks & gives everyone in the family a sense of security. Also helps you as a parent interpret your baby’s needs based on their type of cry, body language & context (eg is it a hot day, is the room too stuffy?)She deals with our own attitudes, some of which may be unconconscious, such as if your baby cries, does that make you a bad mother? Of course it doesn’t!On pages 80-82 there is very handy quick reference chart to help you work out what is wrong with your baby based on his body language. Then on pages 86-88 the same chart is reversed so you can look up the possible cause first . Great for sleep-deprived Mums with little time. The book also covers breastfeeding – especially the first four days your milk comes in. She has written other baby books, all of them are great & include her core practical material & helpful charts & suggestions. Do yourself a favour, give yourself a break & go buy, borrow or lend a copy, you will wonder how you ever got on without her!
