There will be lies and then there will be the truth is a novel by Nick Lake. The book follows Shelby Jane Cooper – a 17 year old who lives with her overly protective mum. However, despite her mum’s best efforts to keep her safe she is one day knocked down by a car. At which point her life unravels very quickly.
I’m liking
I loved this book. The author weaves two apparently separate stories together beautifully. He uses words, numbers and diagrams to visually assist with the storytelling in innovative ways. There are some really nice uses of graphics I particularly appreciated.
Things that made me go hmmmm
Nope, nothing, it was great.
The conclusion
The lead character, Shelby has to live through a series of revelations that would rightly knock anybody off kilter. She progresses and develops believably and the conclusion of the book has some nice symmetry. This is a great book.
