A big and brightly coloured picture book about the ladybirds’ hunt for the perfect house—led by a tenacious yet clueless real estate agent. The Great House Hunt is another beautiful book from Gecko Press.
I’m liking
This book has gorgeous illustrations. The images are bright and detailed and there’s lots to talk about in each picture. The images are engaging and following along the ladybirds’ journey is a quirky way to present the tale. It’s a big format book – which is lovely but awkward on the bookshelves 😉
Things that made me go hmmmm
This book is not easy to follow along and a little tricky to read out loud. The story is in dialogue and there are lots of snippets. It’s not always exactly clear how the story follows and it’s worth reading the book yourself to get the flow before you read it to your little people.
The conclusion
A visually beautiful book but the narrative is awkward. This book is probably best for children 4+ as the storyline is not straightforward.
