The Bone Season is set in a parallel world with a lot of similarities to ours but where clairvoyance is real and being discovered as clairvoyant is a death sentence. Paige is a member of the Seven Seals cohort run by Jaxon Hall a criminal group that uses their extra sensory skills to make money illegally.
I’m liking
This wasn’t an easy book to read, the author Samantha Shannon doesn’t hold your hand, instead she leaves you to work out a lot of details about a world that at time is familiar but at other times is totally alien. But the hard work is worthwhile, I really enjoyed the book.
Things that made me go hmmmm
While I liked her introducing words to describe the different types of clairvoyance it did make reading the book difficult at times. But this also added to the book as well.
The conclusion
Scion, the government, targets the clairvoyant people they label as evil, and public executions are common. So when Paige is captured she fears the worst, however, the reality is even worse than anyone thought.
A totally unique novel with an interesting and enjoyable premise. I enjoyed this book a lot.
