T is for Taniwha is a Kiwi themed colouring-in book with a picture for each letter of the alphabet.
I’m liking
I thought my nearly four year old would like this – he is learning his letters and loves to draw. But like for so many of us, we think our pre-school children will like colouring-in, but because of their undeveloped dexterity they are actually more keen on free form drawing. Master almost 4 looked through it and read the letters and talked about the different pictures but didn’t actually take to adding colour.
Fortunately – his 6 year old brother was standing by and chomping at the bit to get his hands on it. He loved the facts on each page and read it cover to cover before settling in to colour-in the H for haka page quickly followed by Z for Zealand (he is currently into drawing and colouring-in the flag.
Things that made me go hmmmm
Nothing to fault it – While I found some of the drawings a bit crude the children responded to them well – and that’s the audience!
The conclusion
This is a nice little, lightweight colouring-in book. Easy to throw in the bag with some pencils for a trip.
Nice too that it was New Zealand themed.
The real attraction in our house was the facts!
