Soulprint by Megan Miranda is a book that follows Alina Chase at 17 year old who is the reincarnation of June Calahan the worlds more notorious criminal. As such she has been imprisoned all her life because criminal tendencies are always repeated by each incarnation. But she wants a chance to have a normal life and so when escape seems possible she leaps at the change.
I’m liking
This is a thoughtful book, I initially thought it was going to be a bit new age for me but it took an interesting premise that reincarnation can be scientifically proven and explored the ideas thoroughly. I loved the quote that suggested that karma couldn’t be scientifically proved because there were too may variables.
Things that made me go hmmmm
It’s a young adult novel, so I shouldn’t be surprised that romance was a theme in the book. It would have been nice if there was less of this.
The conclusion
This was a good book and I enjoyed it, it’s an original idea that is thoughtfully explored. I especially liked the scientific aspects of the mystery of why June did what she did.
