Snow Planet is an indoor ski and snowboard centre. It offers lessons (both group and individual), kids parties, conference meeting spaces. It is located on the North Shore of Auckland.
I’m liking
Snow Planet is really easy to get to – just head north on the motorway and then follow the signs. There is plenty of parking and access to building is easy (ie. plenty of room to manoeuvre kids, gear, prams etc). The staff are all friendly and helpful, and the hire gear and facilities in the snow are all well maintained. There is a beginners slope accessed by a ‘magic carpet’, two pommel lifts to the top, a couple of options to run down the hill and some great jumps etc for the more adventurous!
The cafe/bar offers a great view to the slope; so easy to watch the action while staying warm. It is also a great place for kids’ parties; with some good package offers combining snow action and catering. Snow Planet also have some great weekly offers like two for one on Mondays – perfect for getting in some practise before hitting the real snow!
Things that made me go hmmmm
It can get really busy out on the slope; which means waiting for the lifts to the top of the slope. Watch out for sneaky kids trying to cut the line!
The conclusion
Snow Planet is a great place to take the kids (or drop off the teenagers) for some winter fun. It is well maintained and has plenty of options for both learners, and the more experienced, in snow sports. We’ll be back!
