A washable and reusable silicone food pouch, the Sili Squeeze is designed to provide an easy way to carry and feed purees and other smooth foods to your little person. The version I have for review is one with a non-spill spout, though they are available in free-flowing spouts also.
I’m liking
This is a nice product. The spout is wide enough to easily spoon food in and it’s so washable, if you spill anything it only takes a quick rinse to have your Sili Squeeze ready to pack with you. The spout easily screws on and off (not so easily that my baby has removed the top, though this might happen with a toddler!) which makes putting it in the dishwasher or hand washing it really easy. Silicon washes so easily, it’s a definite plus!
Made of 100% food-grade safe silicon, you feel good putting your baby’s food in this product. You get to control what you’re giving them to eat in a way that portable pouches don’t always allow. As your little one gets the hang of the Sili Squeeze, they should be able to do it themselves… in theory.
The non-spill spout is very practical. When I’ve fed my baby using this product, I’ve almost not even needed a bib. The same can certainly not be said when a spoon is involved!
The convenience of having a product like this is great. I’ve got the smallest size (2 oz) and you could fill it to the top and have almost enough food for the whole day for a baby. Pretty fab if you’re heading out for the day – I trust this product to not spill even if it contains a smoothie or yoghurt or similar.
Things that made me go hmmmm
The instructions are honest that it can take quite a bit of practice for your child to get the hang of this product. They need to effectively deflate the spout in order to get the air out of the pouch and move the food up into the spout. Then they need to learn to use their hands to keep the food from falling back down into the pouch. I’ve got the hang of doing it for my baby now, but it would be a while before he could do it himself – but that’s OK.
The conclusion
I think this is a really useful piece of baby equipment. The products start at $21.95 which I think is reasonable. For feeding a baby I wouldn’t recommend larger than the 2 oz size, your food will get lost in the silicon pouch… but the product comes in a 4 oz and 6 oz in size which would be great for taking your smoothie with you for your ‘mama snack’. Also, you can purchase the free flow spouts to turn this hardy product into something more suitable for a preschooler, without having to purchase a whole new Sili Squeeze. If your non-spill spout happens to get less non-spill (definitely a possibility with my teething baby) you can also purchase replacement spouts, which I think is really great.
