You might think a book like this is really for those entering The Block or perhaps those in the midst of a Canterbury rebuild. But many of the ideas presented here are obtainable for any family home – they utilise recycled furniture and affordable pieces as well as more elaborate/expensive ideas.
The photographic spreads and styling are both immaculate, and this book is a real feast for the creative interior eye. It’s as enjoyable as a coffee table book as it is useful for planning the makeover of a space.
The chapter on kids’ rooms is fantastic, and it presents lots of ideas for practical storage as well as funky, bright and attractive furniture and artwork. There is also a 32 page section showing how LeeAnn combines colours and textures on a moodboard.
This book covers the spaces that may make a big difference to your home once renovated (hallways, offices, laundries etc.) but are more difficult to get inspired about. Here’s your inspiration! Little tips and tricks are highlighted on many pages so you’ll take away something small to work on even if the whole project appears overwhelming.
Things that made me go hmmmm
As classic as some of this styling is, there’s no doubt that this book is very current. It will be great for a few years, then you will probably pin it as ‘very 2014’.
The conclusion
If you’re renovating or just wondering how to brighten a space or two in your home, then Rooms To Love will definitely give you some brilliant ideas. Certainly if you’re in the middle of a major makeover or building a new home, it will prove a valuable resource. Even if you’re doing none of those things, it is a beautiful book just for the pure aesthetic pleasure it provides!
