Popular children’s author Michael Morpurgo brings an original take on the Pinocchio tale by telling it in the first person. It’s a chunky little book at 266 pages, but plenty of pictures and humour mean those pages will fly by.
I’m liking
The story – it’s totally mad, as Pinocchio gets into one crisis after another. The style is very easy to read and would draw in a reluctant reader. And there are colour pictures!
The conclusion
An entertaining book for both those familiar with Pinocchio’s woes and those new to the story. Particularly good for people who don’t like too many words on a page or boring stories! A wide vocabulary means it’s probably aimed at 8-11 year olds.
