I’m liking
The Genio machine that I have is a sleek and compact model that doesn’t take up too much room on the bench. It is super-simple to set up and use. It took me about 5 minutes to set up, test out and have my first coffee ready.
I enjoyed trying a range of different coffees and each definitely has its own character. The coffee is strong and has a nice ‘head’ – just like cafe coffee! I also like the fact that you can make both hot and iced drinks. Iced coffee is going to be a regular for me in summer!
My kids absolutely love the hot chocolates and we’ve had to ration them out. I did find the mix quite strong and so I make it a bit weaker than the instructions say.
Things that made me go hmmmm
The instructions are all in pictures which is helpful in some respects but I also found a but confusing. I would have liked a brief written summary as well.
I’m not that into the flavour of powdered or uht milk and there’s a bit of a taste of this in the milky versions of this coffee. I preferred to make a good strong Americano and then add a splash of fresh milk at the end.
The conclusion
This is a really great way of having a full strength, cafe-style coffee at home without the fuss of having to make it from scratch. There is a good range of flavours available and they are easily available in supermarkets. If you like the powdered coffee mixes that are currently available in supermarkets, you’ll love this machine!
