Mum’s Secret is designed and made in New Zealand. A natural product, it is a general-purpose soothing and repairing lotion retailing for $15/50 ml or $30/125 ml.
I’m liking
If you’re like me, pregnancy and a newborn throw you into a tizz about all the included ingredients in typical everyday products. Whether you’re a Wendyl Nissen follower or just a bit sceptical about whether everything ‘safe’ is ‘good’, you start to question these things more when a little life is involved. So it is great to have alternatives to the usual prescribed antidotes when skin issues arise – as they surely will in a little person, or in a woman hosting a little person during pregnancy.
Mum’s Secret is entirely natural product with a Colloidal Silver base. It also contains Vitamin E and avocado oil amongst other not chemically-sounding ingredients.
My five month old developed some facial eczema. Initially, not realising it was eczema, I used Mum’s Secret on it for two weeks. I felt safe and comfortable using the product. It absorbs quickly and I didn’t feel I should only use it a couple of times a day, I applied it quite a lot. It helped some of the redness and flaking.
Being a general use product, I have been frequently applying it to my fingertips which are suffering from new-mum frequent handwashing. It is helping.
My son doesn’t suffer much nappy rash but I note this product is safe for use with modern cloth nappies, unlike many nappy rash creams.
I love the fact that it is designed and made in Dunedin by entrepreneurial mothers! Yay Dunedin!
Things that made me go hmmmm
The eczema and the rough skin has not been entirely eradicated by the product. I have started to dilute steroid cream with mum’s secret for the eczema – so a little of something harsher with something gentle seems to have done the trick nicely.
The conclusion
It’s a lovely general-purpose product that is at least as effective as anything similar and a better investment because it’s a New Zealand product made by hardworking mamas.

Thanks for your feedback Sally. I have another cream that I especially designed for my son Jaxon’s eczema, called XMAEASE. I am sure you will find that this cream would give better results with for your eczema…
