This monitor is amazing!
Imagine being able to see what your little one is up to; check on them without the risk of waking them up prematurely. Seeing them on the nice big screen is just the tip of the Iceberg, as this is one feature-rich monitor that will give you some peace of mind.

I’m liking

This monitor joined our household at the right time. My old monitor (a very popular brand) was making alarming static noises quite often. It would also frustrate me that you could not talk through it ‘in reverse’.

The monitor has performed seamlessly since the first time we charged the battery. You can play five different lullabies (controlled by the viewer) which, if you’ve got a young baby, could easily form part of their bedtime routine. You can speak from the viewing end to the camera end – very useful if you’ve asked for nighttime medicines to be delivered by your husband to the baby’s room, and he is clarifying which medicine, for instance. The volume can be set to off and noise will still glow by way of a series of lights at the top of the monitor.
My husband was very impressed at the degree to which one can pan the room from the video controller. The infrared camera swivels almost silently back and forth.

Things that made me go hmmmm

Life of the battery when not plugged in is pretty brief. I have on occasion taken the monitor without the cord into our room for the night and if I’ve turned it on two or three times during the night the battery is on alert.
This would be the monitor to trump them all if you could buy heart rate pads to go with it.
I also think providing some sort of brace to attach the camera to a wall would be a useful addition – we are fortunate to have a highish bookshelf near the cot and I’ve balanced the camera up on a few books so it tilts down into the cot. It doesn’t seem ideal, but it works well enough.

The conclusion

I really like the monitor. It’s proved extremely useful to us. You’d have to be keen as it’s $399, but it would be one of those things that if you’re having a new baby and a few friends want to know what to get you – this is an amazing present.

I feel the need to put down the disclaimer that of course looking at your baby on a monitor is no substitute for checking on them directly. But the camera is clear enough to see reasonably small movements which may cut down your ‘interuppting visits’ :).

Here are the marketer’s details: With the best video on the market, 50% larger screen and a longer range than leading competitors, the Motorola MBP36 baby monitor is a winner in all areas. With features such as two way communication, 5 lullabies, infrared night vision, video pan, tilt and zoom, and a 300m operation range plus an out of range warning; you will feel confident leaving baby to sleep knowing you have one of the market’s leading baby monitors watching over your child.
