Improvisors Kids have been creating improvised shows just for little people for 4 years now it’s a great school holiday treat. Comic Heroes is their latest offering – a fun-filled, improvised show just for kids in which Dr Messy (Ian Harcourt) is thwarted by super-duper Super Movie Girl (Jennifer O’Sullivan).
I’m liking
This show has a lovely, laid-back approach and you feel thoroughly part of the creating process. The theatre was about half full on the day that we went and it gave a lovely, intimate feeling and enabled lots of kids to take part. It was also nice to feel comfortable whispering explanations to my 4 year old without having to worry about disrupting the show. The actors did a brilliant job of incorporating a number of children in the audience and the children certainly appreciated this.
The conclusion
Well worth and afternoon out. I think this show is probably best for the 7-10 year old set – they were certainly the ones who really got into it in our audience; however, my 4 year old also thoroughly enjoyed the show and, with some explanation, was able to join in with the interactive elements. We’ll definitely be back for more Improvisers.
