Sophie Gray is a bit of a legend around here and you’ll probably know her brand – Destitute Gourmet. With a focus on delicious food that is both tasty and economical, her recipes are no-fuss and accessible and Feed the Family for $15 or Less is no exception.
I’m liking
Like her food, Gray’s books are very reasonably priced and this one goes for around $35. They’re not fancy books but there are plenty of pictures to get your mouth watering and the text is clear and easy to follow.
There are a number of recipes in this book that I could make tonight from the scrapings in my fridge and cupboard and I really like the fact that she uses ingredients that ordinary families have in the cupboard.
Things that made me go hmmmm
I follow Gray’s Facebook page and I *know* she loves cake so I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t anything in the way of sweet treats. I guess the focus was on family meals but I would have liked to see some yum-yums in there as well 😉
The conclusion
A really useful book to have in the cupboard. You’ll find yourself coming back to it time and again!
