Ann Packer’s completely revised guide to craft places throughout New Zealand- Crafty Girls’ Road Trip: New Zealand’s Best Craft Places, Plus 10 Craft Projects.
I’m liking
I love the idea of this book. The thought of going on a road trip with some friends and just visiting little craft and antique shops around the country really appeals.
The book is nicely presented. It’s set out by region and has little icons for eating, coffee, sewing etc, plus there is an index in the back.
Ann Packer has included lots of useful information, such as phone numbers, opening hours and information on nearby coffee places, plus the odd mention of nearby places for road trippers who aren’t quite so interested in crafty things.
Things that made me go hmmmm
It would be pretty much impossible to keep all of the information in the book up to date unless Ann Packer spent her whole life continually travelling up and down the country! However, as long as the phone numbers and websites are up to date, you could check ahead to avoid disappointment.
I found that the craft projects were pretty basic and maybe not appropriate for someone who would actually go on a crafty road trip.
The conclusion
I think this book would be a lovely present, even for an armchair crafty road tripper.
