Click that Itch is designed to stop the itching and reduce the swelling caused by insect bites, stinging nettle and jellyfish stings. It is a piezoelectric device which generates a high voltage/low intensity current from the action of mechanical force upon quartz crystals. To use it, you place its tip on the bite or affected area and click the activating button. According to the manufacturer, Click that Itch works by emitting an electrical pulse through the bite, stimulating blood flow which in turn disperses the histamine that causes the irritation.
I’m liking
I used this device while holidaying in Niue during the wet season when mosquitoes were plentiful. The electric pulse feels a bit like having a rubber band pinged against your skin.
I’m not a scientist so I couldn’t confirm whether the device actually works in the way stated by the manufacturer. However, I did find the “pingy” effect very satisfying and it did seem to provide relief from the itching.
Click that Itch doesn’t require a battery and comes with an attachment which allows you to wear it around your neck so it’s instantly on hand when you need it.
Things that made me go hmmmm
I found that when I got a very large number of bites the device wasn’t as practical because I was having to click myself all over the place. At that point, I surrendered and took an antihistamine.
The conclusion
Click that Itch would suit consumers who prefer a chemical free approach to relieving the itching and swelling caused by mosquito bites. It isn’t suitable for children under 12 months, epileptics or people with heart pacemakers.
