Betty Gilderdale wrote the Little Yellow Digger after a similar situation occurred at her daughter’s home. The rhyming verse, with repetitions, makes it a pleasure to read aloud.  When little yellow digger gets stuck in the mud, a range of bigger diggers are sent to finish the job.
