Beatrix didn’t want a tiara.
Beatrix wanted a BEARD!
From Charles Darwin to Abraham Lincoln, Karl Marx to Mr Twit, it is said that the secret to power and greatness is all in the size and shape of the beard. Beards! Beards! Beards! is a tale of one young girl’s increasingly inventive efforts to grow the world’s most magnificent beard. Armed with bubble bath and canned spaghetti, join a madcap and hilarious musical romp of physical comedy and clowning, as our plucky young heroine shakes up social rules and attempts to answer the questions that have puzzled mankind since the dawn of the beard.
I’m liking
I liked that this show was really funny. They wore lots of funny beards and the songs were cool. It was weird the way that she met lots of different people and they wore strange clothes.
Caitlin’s mum says: This is a fun play that takes a whistle-stop tour through the bearded men of history, where Beatrix learns that she doesn’t need a beard to make a difference.
All three performers in this show were strong and the songs were integrated nicely in the show.
Things that made me go hmmmm
Caitlin’s mum: Perhaps the ‘moral’ was a bit heavy handed at the end.
The conclusion
This is a great show for children aged about 8/9+. Some of the jokes were a bit over the head of my 6 year old but she still enjoyed following the story along.
