Anton and Luke are competitive. They do battle over everything. Anton and the Battle tells the tale of one of their encounters.

I’m liking

I like the way that this book is about boys. And it’s boyish in style as well. Anton and Luke are constantly trying to outdo each other in the most ridiculous way and I can totally imagine 6 or 7 year old boys saying just the things that Luke and Anton say.

As well as being an amusing tale, there are also some good discussion points for parents and children – such as discussion the difference between real and pretend. When my husband read this to our daughter, they had quite a talk about whether Anton and Luke were really going to bomb each other.

The book also has a nice moment of humour when the boys run scared up a tree when a dog comes along.

The conclusion

This book is not quite my humour but I can definitely see it’s appeal to little boys. It’s kind of like fart jokes… not for me but I can see the appeal for a certain audience 😉
