This is a brightly illustrated, robust hardback title that retells 99 Bible stories. Each is featured in a single or double page spread and through simple text that would suit the 4-7 year old age bracket.
I’m liking
The illustrations by Elina Ellis are charming. The diversity of stories is really great, everything from Creation to anticipating the return of Christ.
It’s a square book and presented so nicely, it would make a great gift.
Things that made me go hmmmm
Some of the Biblical accounts are changed in this text – one example, is from ‘Moses climbs a mountain’: “God told Moses “I’m going to give you my rules for living. Write them down on two big flat stones.” So Moses wrote down God’s special rules for living”. Hmmm, no he didn’t. God wrote them on the tablets. As with many simplified Bible story books, one has to be a little careful about the detail.
The conclusion
I think this book is priced really well and it is lovely.
