More about the RNZYS
The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron holds a special place in the heart of many Aucklanders. Even if you don’t sail, most people know the white building under the Harbour Bridge at Westhaven, and who hasn’t heard of the America’s Cup?
However, it’s not all about racing for the Squadron. Members enjoy a wide array of social events, weekend away trips, golf days, Mother’s and Father’s Day brunches, balls, dances, and much more. There’s even a children’s Christmas party. It is so much more than just a yacht club and you don’t event need to own a boat to be a member.
While you have to be a member to enjoy the Squadron’s facilities, it’s also a popular venue for weddings, receptions, functions, and meetings for members and non-members alike. The onsite staff will provide anything you need and the catering is of the high standard you would expect from such an elegant venue.
The internationally recognised training options include a ‘Learn to Sail’ programme that is also part of the Squadron’s offerings, as well as ‘school hours for mums only’ course.
Under the leadership of one of the Squadron’s youngest Commodores, Steve Mair, the RNZYS is looking forward to future generations to write the next chapters in Auckland’s great “Squadron” story.
