In Artisan Pizza, London-based restaurant chain Franco Manca has put out a gorgeous little cookbook with tips, ideas and recipes all relating to everyone’s favourite food: pizza.

I’m liking

Pizza is regular fare at our house and we always make our own out of necessity: we live too far from any of the chain takeaway stores. We make dough in the breadmaker and pile on all the usual ingredients. We have our favourite toppings but after a while, it’s nice to try different ideas – and this book has plenty. I’m also currently on a dairy-free diet, so making a pizza without cheese for me has been more of a challenge, but I still have been enjoying it!

I love that everything is broken down into its constituent parts: ideas for doughs, salsas, cheeses, pestos, even tips on making your own sausages and salamis (something my husband is keen to try) and herbs to grow.

The photos are mouthwatering and as soon as I am back having dairy, I’ll be trying out more of these recipes. I love the reminders of things which can go on pizzas which don’t immediately spring to mind, e.g.: broccoli, pumpkin, lamb mince, courgette and artichoke.

The conclusion

This is a fantastic book to have on your shelf or to give as a gift – it’s incredibly accessible and a nice mix of basic instructions and ideas for those who are more daring. I love its size, paper, design and photography! You can’t go wrong with having this book.
