Hairy Maclary turns 30(!!) this year and Bolinda Publishing has put together two glorious collections of audio books, which will keep your children entranced for hours.

These audio books are totally true to the original books. You will find yourself chanting along (“Stop that shamozzle….”) to the stories and will enjoy the cadences of hearing the story out loud. The stories are read by actor Kyle Prior, who is Scottish. I initially found this a bit disconcerting but very much enjoyed his interpretation of the books.
The conclusion
The two different collections cover most of Lynley Dodd’s Hairy-esk books. If you’re a purist, I recommend The Hairy Maclary Collection as it has all of the Hairy books you know and love. If you’re a fan of Hairy’s entourage, try Hairy Maclary and Friends – you’ll find Slinky Malinki, Schnitzel von Krumm, Zackery Quack and Scarface Claw. My kids have been loving listening to these CDs in the car and I’m sure that the stories will be appreciated by Hairy fans everywhere!
