Kids love Dr Suess, and it’s been that way for a long time. New stories have been found and published in Horton & the Kwuggerbug and more lost stories. This is A Grade Suess, and a lot of fun!
I’m liking
We already have The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories, a similar unearthed collection of Dr Suess stories from a few years back, so it was great to see what else has been collected for this new title. When stories are published that have been ‘lost’, I am often slightly concerned that these stories weren’t originally published for good reason, however, I’m pleased to report that isn’t the case in this instance. These are just as entertaining as anything you’ll ever have read by Dr Suess.
With an imagination like no other, he brings some of his most loved characters back to life in these four short stories (‘The Hoobub and the Grinch’ features Grinch, ‘Horton and the Kwuggerbug’ with well known elephant Horton, ‘How Officer Pat Saved the Whole Town’, and ‘Marco Comes Late’ featuring known character Marco.)
Typical in Suess style, the words are fast paced, and a lot of fun to read aloud. They roll off the tongue and challenge you to not stumble on the rhymes and word pictures.
The conclusion
With many strong characters who show initiative, and stories packed with life lessons to discuss, this is a great read. Whether you’re already a Dr Suess fan or not, this book is a recommended addition to your bookshelf. The fun illustrations make it all the more worthwhile.
