Painting can be a messy business but it’s also LOADS of fun and your baby will love getting their hands (and the rest of their body) mucky while using this edible paint.
It’s very easy to make and you don’t need to worry if your baby eats it! There are ‘edible’ baby paints you can buy as well, but they won’t be totally chemical free, and you’ll pay about 10 x as much as this easy version costs to whip up.
This is a great baby development activity, as it encourages your baby to look at colours, to explore their environment, and to begin engaging their creative brains.
In fact research has shown there’s a link between a child’s creative development and their originality, vocabulary and even flexibility! Check out this article if you want to learn more about baby development, it’s fascinating stuff. Otherwise just jump to the ‘recipe’ below.
Recipe
1 tbs of sugar
1/3 cup of flour*
2 cups of water
Boil ingredients together until thick. Split it up into cups or whatever you want, and add a few drops of kid-friendly food colouring.
