With an international airport, a domestic airport, and the inter-island ferries Wellington is very busy most of the year with tourism and sporting/cultural/political events, so Wellington is well resourced to cover the wide spectrum of family accommodation needs. No matter what your preference, there will be places for families to stay in Wellington, but we recommend that you BOOK AHEAD to secure your desired place to stay. You don’t want to get caught out, particularly during school holiday periods, so make enquiry online about availability and service/facility options.

Accommodation options to suit all budgets — Cabins with bunks; Country Cottage sleeping up to 6 people; or the Riverside Suites.

Country homestyle breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals are provided, with modest pricing for 2-6 year olds; 7 – 12 year olds; and adults.

The Wellesley Country Park is located on 40 acres bordering a sparkling river nestled in the beautiful Akatarawa Valley, Upper Hutt – just 45 minutes drive from Wellington. Set amongst native bush with breath-taking views of the majestic river valley and its towering bush clad hills, it is indeed one of Wellington’s best kept secrets.

Harcourt Holiday Park

Just 25 minutes drive out of Wellington city, set in 4 ½ acres of native bush at the mouth of the scenic Akatarawa Valley, is Harcourt Holiday Park. In a beautifully peaceful setting the only sounds you will hear are the native birds and the flow of the adjacent Hutt River. Being right next to Harcourt Park, this Holiday Park is an ideal setting for a restful holiday or just a stopover before heading to or from the South Island.

Accommodation varies from motels, tourist flats, cabins to power and tent sites. The modern motels and tourist flats are all in private settings and are comfortably furnished. Each has a separate ensuite bedroom and a full self-catering kitchen. All have their own fridge and remote control television set.
Campers have access to clean and modern amenities block including showers, toilets, kitchen and laundry. A gas barbecue is also available to guests.
The park next door has a large well-equipped play area for children and plenty of space for walking. The river has an excellent swimming area that is within walking distance from the park.
