This is a great Kiwiana colouring book created by Dave Gunson that gives you true-to-life pictures and unusual facts about all things Kiwiana. This book features 30 simple, black and white drawings of Kiwiana from buzzy-bees to gumboots and the corner dairy to the haka.
I’m liking
I love how iconic the New Zealand Kiwiana colouring book is. Being a child who grew up in the 80s, I connected with so many of the images. I also found each fact to be truly interesting. Dave Gunson has done a great job at bringing together a collection of New Zealand history in this fun and quirky colouring in book.
Things that made me go hmmmm
In the middle of the book there is a section with all the images coloured. This can be used as a guide to help with the colouring. For me I’m not a big fan of showing kids how things could be coloured as this can restrict their own creativity. But for this book I can let it slide as it’s so cool seeing iconic kiwiana images.
The conclusion
This is a great colouring in book for young and old. The adults out there can reconnect with all things kiwiana that they grew up with and the young will learn interesting facts to do with our New Zealand history.
